COVID Symptoms - If in doubt, stay out!
Read more about the main coronavirus symptoms and how and when to arrange for testing:
It is very important that if your child has any of the following symptoms, they do not come to school:
* A high temperature;
* A continuous cough;
* Any loss of taste or sense of smell.
If you are at all unsure, please seek further advice from the NHS either by using their online symptom checker or by phoning 111. The person with symptoms will also need to arrange a coronavirus test via these channels online or phone 119.
You will need to arrange a PCR test at a local testing centre - there is a walk-in centre at the site of the old Wakefield Westgate railway station. If the person tests positive, they will need to self-isolate for 10 days and other people in the same house may need to have a PCR test. If people in the household test negative, they may resume normal activities if they are fully vaccinated or are under the age of 12. If they are over 12 and not vaccinated, they will also need to self-isolate for 10 days.
If the child is negative, they can return to school and resume normal activities.

Please continue to follow social distancing as much as possible when entering the school site or approaching staff. Please phone school with any queries in the first instance or to make an appointment. Please ensure that if you do have an appointment in school that a protective mask is worn.
Arrangements For Pupil Absence Due To COVID
If your child needs to self-isolate as a result of testing positive for COVID, school will provide home learning for your child to minimise the impact on their education from lost learning.
Upon first contact to school, we will ask you a few brief questions to establish whether you are able to access any online remote learning and whether you are currently entitled to free school meals.
Whilst we are getting more tailored learning for your child organised, please see the home learning links in the Curriculum area of our school website. From Year 2 onwards, your child will have a Purple Mash account where they will be able to access learning online and email the teacher if they are stuck with anything.
If you are eligible for free school meals (benefit's, not age related), we will also be able to provide packed lunches/ food hampers for your child whilst they have to isolate.
