Half Term 3
PCSO Dave came to visit us in class as part of our PSHE topic this half term - Keeping Safe. We learnt about how to cross to road safely, how important it is to listen to adults and what Police and different professionals do to help us and keep us safe in society. We have had the People Who Help Us role play costumes out in the home corner to use this half term.
We have been reading the story 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' as one of our stories in Literacy. We have loved this story! We have made sensory trays and have drawn story maps in our classes to help us retell the story independently using actions and words. We have the book and characters set up in our reading corner in the classroom and have written about the story during guided writing.
We have a visitor called Lala coming to see us every week. She works for a performing arts company called ARTIS.. we have lots of fun working in the hall with her, using the space to develop our physical skills, developing our imagination, listening and communication skills. Lala comes every Friday when she works with Nursery and Reception.
Chinese New Year!
The children celebrated the Lunar New Year by learning all about the traditions involved. They learnt and performed a dragon dance, made the dragon in the workshop area, had a tasting session with prawn crackers and noodles and dressed up in traditional new year clothes that we had set up for role play in the home corner. Happy New Year to all those who celebrated!
