My name is Janet Hilton, I am retired, and I became a Governor during 2026. I have four grandchildren, one who attends Flanshaw. I have always been interested in being a Governor and being involved in what is happening in School, reviewing policies and decision making.

I have been involved in working with young people – at a young age helping with Cubs and then being a Youth Club leader. When my children were growing up I decided to study and take my teaching qualifications and started teaching at Wakefield College. Eventually I became a Manager with the College where I was responsible for approximately 30 staff, over 1000 enrolments and a budget of £1.5m.

I am passionate about the education and welfare of our children and hope that my previous skills will help me provide an important link between School Management and the Community to ensure that the children grow into well rounded individuals. My main aim is to ensure that every child has the best opportunity to succeed, regardless of their background or circumstances.

I totally agree with the school’s motto, and want to work alongside the school and community to ensure the motto – ‘Education in Mind, Community in Heart, Success in Life’ is woven into all aspects of the curriculum and school life.
