Curriculum Enrichment
Science Day 2024
Flanshaw participated in a science day for the whole school as part of National Science Week. We had a scientist pay us a visit for the day, and we all engaged in some enjoyable and thrilling activities. This year's theme was "Time," in honour of science week's 30th anniversary. Year 1 and 2 created water timers, Year 3 and 4 created sun dials, and Years 5 and 6 created clocks out of potatoes, oranges, and cola. Together, we all had a great time and discovered an incredible amount of new scientific information.
Wildlife Garden
We are proud to introduce our Wildlife Garden!
We are working hard to improve our wildlife garden to provide a range of learning experiences. We have planters for every year group so that children can experience natural processes first hand and foster a love of the outdoors. In the seating area, outdoor learning can be deepened and reinforced, promoting conversation and reflection.
Year 5 planting carrots, baby corn, runner beans, basil and lavender.
Wildlife Garden Club
Weeding has taken up a lot of our time, but we have big plans for the summer term!
Science Club 2022
Check out some of the science club activities we did, including producing slime, lava lamps, parachutes, catapults and more. We had a great time while learning about air resistance, gravity, and chemical reactions.
