As part of our Science unit on Plants, we looked at those plants which are edible: fruit and vegetables. We looked at the difference between the two and the close link between them. We identified a range of different fruits and vegetables and then sorted them into the two groups.

In our first experiment of the year, we used celery and a glass of coloured water to show how water and nutrients are transported through a plant via a process called transpiration. We placed the celery in the glass and left it overnight; when we came back to it the next day, we noticed that the colour from the water had transported up the celery and was now in the veins of the leaves - they were going blue!
