Newspaper (Recounts)
After reading up to chapter 5 of Diary of a killer cat by Anne Fine, the children planned newspaper reports based on if Tuffy (the cat) actually murdered the neighbour's rabbit. (Other classes may have used other animals as the victim)
After learning some of the features of Newspapers, the children did a guided write to create the opening orientation before independently writing the rest of their article incorporating: interviews with witnesses, embedded clauses, speech and emotive language.
