PSHE - Adopt a Potato
This half term in PSHE we have been looking at emotions, feelings, friendships, similarities ad differences. As part of this program of work we paired up and adopted a potato. We named him/her, gave them a background story - What do they like / hate? What might their school report say? & What are their future aspirations? The kids loved the imaginative aspect to this task. All the while they had to look after their adopted potato; get use to it - learn what it looked like etc. Finally we shared our potato's life story and put our potato back in the "Bed box" before finishing school.
The next day we were asked to pick out our potato - to mixed success. At the basic level they are all potatoes but they are all different and the same goes for humans too.
Note: In the interest of honesty - not all adopted potatoes made it out alive - One team bit theirs and another was stabbed with a pencil. I'm sure social services will intervene.
