Rocks

This half-term we are learning all about rocks. We have compared and described different kinds of rocks and carried out an investigation into which rock is best for a skate ramp, kitchen worktop and statue. We have also looked at different soils and discuss the layers of the Earth, where we made our very own Dirt Pudding and recreated the layers of the Earth - we used strawberry sauce for the Magma, digestive biscuit for the Earth's crust, wafers for the bedrock, chocolate mousse for the subsoil and crushed Oreos for the top soil and then we got to eat it! It was delicious.

Next half-term we will be learning all about fossils, describing how fossils are formed and have a go at making our own fossils.
