Welcome to our Governors' Section
Flanshaw's Governing Body is made up of 12 people. 1 Headteacher, 1 Deputy Headteacher 2 staff members, 1 person who represents the Local Authority, 2 parent governors and 5 co-opted governors. Each Governor’s term lasts for four years, after which an election is held or a new appointment made. The officers of the Governing body including the Chair and Vice Chair are elected annually by the governors. You can see who are governors are by clicking below.

Meet our School Governors:
The Governing Body is responsible for monitoring, evaluating, improving and challenging through discussion all aspects of school management. It provides help and support to the Head Teacher and the school management team enabling them to carry out their roles effectively.
Being a Governor involves attending meetings and making decisions about all aspects of school life. Governors are part of the leadership and management of the school. The Governing Body:
is accountable for the performance of the school
plans for the school's future
selects the Headteacher
makes decisions about the school's budget and staffing
decides how the school can encourage pupils' spiritual, moral and cultural development
makes sure that the school provides for all of its pupils, including those with additional needs
The full Governing Body meets every half-term and alternate to discuss:
- Finance, Staffing, Buildings and Health and Safety.
- Monitoring, improving the Curriculum and Pupil lssues.
