Year 1
Year 1 - D.T Overview
When your child reaches Year One they will study D.T in two blocks, these are as follows:
Term Two - Your child will study castles, they will look at their structures and what is used to strengthen them as well as their features. This work will link with their History topic and a school trip to Conisbrough Castle. They will design, make and evaluate their own castle selecting suitable materials and structures.
Term Three - Your child will study where food comes from, focusing on healthy foods. As this is a food block they will be taught how to cut food and peel food safely. They will also look at how to set a table for a family meal. During this block your child will design, make and evaluate a fruit kebab.
