In Year 1, pupils have been learning about the local area. They have been learning about the wider area of Wakefield, the local landmarks and what is near and far from where they live.

Pupils have also been looking more in depth at where they live using concentric circles. First, pupils started with identifying that they live in the Flanshaw area and then identified the wider geographical areas which Flanshaw is in from the city of Wakefield all the way to our country, England. Pupils also enjoyed expanding their knowledge of the UK and naming the countries within it and their capital cities.
