Year 2 - DT Overview

When your child reaches year 2 they will study D.T across three blocks of work. Those blocks are as follows:

Term One - Your child will design, make and evaluate a baby bear's chair. They will look at the features of structures, test the strength of their structure and identify the weakest part of their structure to improve. 

Term Two - Your child will design, make and evaluate a healthy wrap. During this block, they will learn about nutrition and the five food groups, look at what a balanced diet consists of and then try to make a wrap through their design. As this is a food block, they will be building upon skills such as cutting, spreading and assembling. 

Term Three - Your child will design, make and evaluate their own pouch. In this block, children will build on their sewing skills learning simple stitches and how to embellish their pouch.
