When your child reaches year 3, they will study D.T across three blocks of work. Those blocks are as follows:

Term One - Your child will design, make and evaluate a pneumatic toy. They will create a pneumatic system to create desired motion, build secure housing and use different materials to make a functional and appealing pneumatic toy. Then, they will use views of their own and other's to identify improvements they need to make.  

Term Two - Your child will design, make and evaluate a castle. During this block, they will focus on the importance of strength and stiffness in structures, construct a range of 3D geometric shapes using nets and create special features for individual designs.  

Term Three - Your child will design, make and evaluate their own jam tart. During this block, they will learn how to identify seasonal foods in the UK, know how to peel foods, know how to describe the texture and flavour of ingredients and know how to describe the benefits of seasonal fruits and vegetables and their impact on the environment.
