    Weekly Update

We hope you are remaining well and have been keeping positive during the second week of lockdown.

Staff will be preparing new homework packs for after the Easter holidays and we will be in touch regarding how to collect these towards the end of the holiday. If you need any ideas to keep you going over the holidays, please keep checking the school website and our twitter feed on there. Please keep sending your lovely tweets of the children working hard at home.

Ensure you keep following the governments advice and stay at home to keep yourselves safe:

    Stay at home

    • Only go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if you cannot work from home)
    • If you go out, stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times
    • Wash your hands as soon as you get home

Do not meet others, even friends or family. You can spread the virus even if you don’t have symptoms.

If you need anything to keep the children occupied in the meantime, please see the list of resources below:

  • Free School Meals During Closure

    Wed 25 Mar 2020

    Free Packed Lunches

All families who have applied for and are eligible for free school meals under the Pupil Premium scheme are entitled to be provided with a lunch from school during the enforced closure. Please note that school meals will continue to be provided throughout the holidays, with the exception of Good Friday and Bank Holiday Monday when the kitchen is closed. After the holidays, we will be looking to move towards using the government voucher scheme so you are provided with shopping vouchers instead of a packed lunch from school every day.

    Voucher Scheme

We will be starting this straight after the holidays from Monday 20th April 2020. However, if you have not already replied to the school text messages, we now need your email address urgently in order to set up your claim for vouchers. This can be the same email you use when applying for benefits/ tax credits. Please email Mrs Hume at school, including your child’s name at: reception@flanshawjin.co.uk by Wednesday 8th April at the very latest.

We will issue further instructions on how to access your vouchers once we have set the accounts up (and worked it all out) during the Easter holidays. If you have any queries in the meantime, please email school on the above email address.

    Food Parcels

We are also working closely with our Magic Breakfast partners to get food parcels with basic staples such as bagels, beans and breakfast cereals for our vulnerable families. We will be in touch regarding this when we take our first deliveries and see how many parcels we can produce.

    Food to Support Families

If you are concerned about food in general during the closure there are several options available to help families in our community: St George’s Church, Lupset; St Catherine’s, Belle Vue; The Real Junk Food project, Denby Dale Road; Elim Community Church at the Denhale Arc

    Be Aware of Scam Emails

We have been informed that some parents have received an email stating the following: ‘As schools will be closing, if you’re entitled to free school meals, please send your bank details and we’ll make sure you’re supported’.

We can confirm that this is a scam email and is not official. We will never ask for your bank details like this and urge parents - please do not respond, and delete it immediately.

  • Coronavirus COVID-19

    Sun 15 Mar 2020

    Coronavirus - COVID19 Update

Further to the announcement by the Government, School will be closed from Friday 20/03/20 at 3:15pm until further notice. Your child will receive a homework pack to complete work at home. Please see below for more information on home learning.

Latest National Guidance - What to do if you have symptoms?
The latest national guidance and updates on Covid-19 can be found at: https://www.gov.uk/coronavirus

There has been a change in guidance provided in order to help protect others in your community if you are infectious.
Your whole family needs to stay at home and self-isolate for 14 days if anyone in your house has either:

    • A high temperature, or;

    • A new continuous cough.

Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact NHS 111 or your doctor to tell them you are infected unless your symptoms worsen or continue for more than 7 days. There will be no tests for people that are self-isolating with mild symptoms.

Please check the latest NHS guidance at   https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/

    Cancellation of Visits
The Year 3/4 residential trip to Malham has been cancelled and postponed to the summer - we will be following advice of Public Health England as to whether this will need to be cancelled completely.
All other visits have been cancelled until further notice - we will try to rearrange as many as possible and try to refund any monies paid already once we have chance to resolve this with our insurers and withdraw funds which have already been banked. School will refund monies  paid to parents once school is reopened. If we are able to do this before then, we will update parents affected as soon as we are in a position to do so.
